A typical concrete parking garage deck project will include the
following steps. Often companies do not follow the proper process and it results in bubling, peeling or
premature wearing or cracking. In these situations we follow the following process to ensure that your new
deck coating does not have these common problems due to insufficient prep work prior to applying the coating.
The basics of one of our common proceses for this application is deliniated below:
-
Scrape and remove existing
material
-
Dispose of removed
material
-
Repair damaged concrete as
necessary
-
Grind and sand smooth damaged and uneven
areas
-
Shot blast steel shot to exfoliate concrete in order to condition the deck to
be more accepting for the material
-
Gather and remove all residue from the shot blasting process using brooms
backpack blowers vacuums and rolling magnets
-
Powerwash the prepared areas for further
cleaning
-
After ample time is allowed for the water to dry, a mixture of the epoxy prime
coat and the silica aggregate will be applied to applicable areas in order to minimize irregularities
in the prepared surfaces
-
Apply prime coat in accordance with the standards for this material set forth
by Neogard or other preferred coating
-
Apply base coat in accordance with the standards for this material set forth
by Neogard or other preferred coating
-
Apply wear coat in accordance with the standards for this material set forth
by Neogard or other preferred coating
-
Distribute silica aggregate over the surface of the wear coat to create a slip
resistant surface
-
Apply top coat in accordance with the standards for this material set forth by
Neogard there will be a two tone application on this final coat with the curbed raised areas to be a
different color than the drive areas of the facility(colors to be specified by
OAAC).
-
Final cleanup and
removal of excess materials
In the
near future we will be uploading video footage of portions of this process to help you more clearly understand
how we do things and why we should be your top choice for your industrial waterproofing
needs.
